Fatima Sughra Ahmed
June 7, 1924 - September 14, 2015

Fatima Sughra Ahmed, 91, died on September 14, 2015 in her Wyomissing residence. She was the wife of the late Saifuddin Ahmed (1,2,3), whom she married on June 4, 1950. Born in Lahore in pre-partition India, she was the daughter of the late Haq Nawaz Khan and Fatima Jan. She graduated from King Edward Medical College in 1946, and obtained a PhD from the University of London in 1961. She was a histopathologist at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Pakistan from 1963 to 1974, and later worked in the United States as a pathologist and a general practitioner until her retirement in 2003 from the VA Medical Center in Bonham, Texas. She is survived by her son, Saeeduddin Ahmed, husband of Melvia E. Ahmed, and her grandchildren Sanaa N. Ahmed, Zeba S. Ahmed and Azam B. Ahmed. She has one surviving sister, Naheed. She was predeceased by three sisters, Zohra, Khalidah, and Sajidah.
